Dying Matters Awareness Week 9th - 13th May 2016

Next week is Dying Matters Awareness week. The ethos of the week is to try to encourage people to talk about end of life care, their particular wishes and how they would like their family to support them at the end of their life.

As private client lawyers, we seek to encourage people to discuss these areas all year round. However, as part of Dying Matters week we are actively supporting local initiatives for raising awareness about how important talking about end of life care can be.

In relation to legal planning for end of life, it is preferable for our clients to look at updating their Wills and consider Powers of Attorney, which are documents that clients can put in place appointing others to help them make decisions regarding their finances or health care decisions in the future. Clients can also make advance decisions (sometimes called living wills) detailing end of life treatment decisions.

Emsleys’ Head of Wills and Probate, Helen Gott, will be speaking at a Q&A session on these issues at Crossgates Good Neighbours Death Café on 13th May 2016. There will be a coffee morning with a question and answer session so feel free to call in and have a coffee with us!
